Comfy, cozy and on the Leidseplein. In the American Hotel. Hiply extravagant, but worth it. Music, drinks, food.

What a great location!
Hip, cosy and very comfortable! Very well located at the Leidseplein, good place to spot famous people or read the newspaper at the antique reading table!!
Did you know that the Cafe Americain is where Mata Hari had her wedding reception? It’s a marvelous, historic place to dine. I went there on a snowy December night after sitting through that terrible Nicole Kidman movie, The Others. It as a perfect way to end the night with a salad and dessert. Don’t miss this one, it’s a treat!
Sitting here, having free internet access, saves my live. Don’t drink the coffee, it’s terrible. Get a beer.
Staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Americain I had no idea mata hari had her wedding reception there. Having Blogged the trip I did a piece called the Mayem of Mata Hari on the site due to a Morrocan lady who completely went off on Americans and the Bush Era. She reminded me of Mata Hari and the amount of people I met who worked in Washington DC makes me raise an eyebrow! 🙂 Well there are always such coincidences and we will leave it at that. The cafe is incredible and the bartender Roger is a hoot and a holler…chock full of interesting things off the given tourist itinerary…The hotel restaurant with outdoor seating adjacent to Cafe Americain is fantastic as well and you will have trouble finding a better place to digest your day or evenings experience. Bordering the insanely jammed Leidensplein square and the museum district, writers may push pens or tap laptops to their hearts content nibbling the finest Salmon Croq’s in town. A perfect 10 for the cafe and a 9 for the restaurant…due to the extent of outdoor seating and the # of tables per staff member service is a game of patience sometimes.
